Adapta by niivu Adapta by niivu
Hey everyone!  My first theme submission...

I'm very proud to present my ADAPTATION of a very popular Linux theme called ADAPTA!

This Visual Style is for ANNIVERSARY UPDATE 1607 & CREATORS UPDATE 1703 of Windows 10.

:bulletgreen: UPDATE - Fix some color/menu issues.  Made some text more visible. (2017-05-01)

:bulletblue: UPDATE - FIX FOR SIB++ 2.0.6 Users with new taskbar and buttons!

:bulletred: UPDATE 2 - Includes Modded Caption Button Style!  As per request from Pro0x3st

Light and dark variants are included.

The iconset in the preview is Fetch iPack by neiio

The theme base is a mod of Fetch by neiio (used with permission)

To install make sure your system is first patched to accept third party custom themes.

:bulletgreen: I first recommend you make a System Restore point before doing so.

Then grab the latest version of UltraUXThemePatcher and install it.  A reboot may be required.

Then place the appropriate theme files according to your Windows Version into your Windows/Resources/Themes folder

Right click anywhere on the desktop, select Personalize then go down to Themes and find the Visual Style you wish to apply.

If you get the bottom task pane, Press Alt+Shift+P to hide it.

Very simple. :P

Thank you for this theme, I liked the normal one but I prefer the Light version because the color scheme is not messing with the page color on Microsoft Office. Sadly Adapta Light looks horrible in my system, it was great on the Explorer but not on other programs that I used a lot. Most of the text are unreadable here :/

When I use third party themes, my system somehow always bricks up: I can't open a new windows-explorer window and when I reboot I get stuck in an infinite loginscreen-loop...
Any ideas on how to fix that?

I'm guessing you are using the correct patching methods?  If so there shouldn't be a problem.  Not sure though why it would do that.  What version are you on?

And one more question, that know is a fairly common one ... how do you get rid of the menu bar in the explorer (I already got rid of the ribbon using ONE, but that ugly menu bar remains...)?

The menu bar can be found under Folder Options and the choice to always show or not.  Usually that does the trick unless you are using some third party app.

Great work here, but sadly I can't get the latest version of UltraUXThemePatcher to work.

Ah that sucks!  What seems to be the problem?  You might have to take ownership of the files it patches first but I have no clue to be honest.  It just worked straight out for me.

Added another admin account + took ownership of files & ran patch with admin rights did the trick. Thanks for pushing me in the right direction. I almost gave up but all the great work from you with all the visual styles lately made me go on. Thanks for all the good work!

A few suggestions of extra tweaks to go with this theme:

- Combine it with these cursors for even more Material Design look:  Android Material Cursors (Blue) by MJ-lim  for Blue or  Android Material Cursors (Teal) by MJ-lim  for Teal
- Set the Windows 10 color scheme to #4987EE (same Blue color as the cursors) or #075E55 (same Teal color) especially as the blue-grey that comes default with the theme is REALLY hard to see in Windows 10 Dark Mode.
- Install Roboto, Noto Sans, and/or Product Sans to replace the default Windows fonts with the same ones used on Android/Chrome OS (even more Material Design) windowscentral.com/how-change-…
- Install the offical Adapta themes for Chrome to make it blend better into Chrome github.com/adapta-project/adap… (Use Adapta for Light or Adapta Nokto for Dark)

As for the Theme itself, that last point brings me to an important thing. Why does this theme name Adapta Nokto just Adapta and Adapta as Adapta Light? Might make more sense to use the official theme names since this is based on the Adapta theme.

Hey deredrosid thanks for updating to fix the colors. Though I should mention that in some instances the color has become light on light(which is as you can imagine hard to read).

Very nice but file details when using a list/details view in the file explorer (Date Modified, Type, etc etc) are very difficult to read due to their color.  example: i.imgur.com/DGYmJM1.jpg

I can't get the patcher to apply for some reason. I'm running it as administrator, rebooting immediately, but on boot up the patch has not applied. I run it again and it says it's not patched. *sigh* don't know what the issue is. Running 1703 Creators Update.

Edit:
No matter what I do, I can't get this patcher to patch my install of Creators Update. I even tried running the patch, then going into System32 and SysWOW64, where in System32 I can see that uxtheme, uxinit, and themeui have .backups of themselves per the patcher. I then copy the patched dll's and replace the ones in SysWOW64 with them, making backups of the originals there as well. But after a reboot, still I am not able to apply even Adapta, and the patcher still says I'm not patched. I've been modding Windows since XP and have been a screenshot junky the entire time, but I'm at a loss here. The patcher is missing something.

I had to manually give my admin account permissions for each of the .dll files themepatcher patches before i could get it to stick after reboot. Just right click the files and open properties, security, edit, and give your admin account required permission.

Edit: You might have to take ownership of the files first. (if you don't have "take ownership" option when you right-click files/folders just google "take ownership", tons of apps will sort that out for you)

This is what I did, but then I had to reinstall Windows fresh because for some reason it killed my App Center software from Gigabyte mobo. Nothing I did would fix it. It didn't like me taking ownership of system files for some reason.

That sounds weird, taking ownership of those files shouldn't be any issue. Did you have any AV programs installed? I know HIPS can interfere with changing windows files.
